A trip my son and I took to buy his first truck has since stuck with me. We were meeting a young man about the same age as my son and his mom to make the deal. The ad made it sound like a good starter truck, but when we inspected it, there were many more issues than we anticipated. Let down by the true condition, we offered them gas money and apologized for no longer being interested.
The young man started tearing up and was visibly upset, saying they'd never sell it. Seeing how upset they were, I talked with them about what had happened. His mom said they had traded in a much nicer truck for this one because it had a lift and bigger tires. They didn't realize this truck had so many issues until it was too late. My son and I knew how to fix the issues, so we offered to buy it at a newly negotiated price and help them get out of a bad deal.
A couple questions kept running through my mind on our way home. Is there a way to help people avoid these expensive and emotional mistakes? How can I bring transparency to more vehicle buyers than I ever could on my own? That moment is exactly why I created Buyer Buddy.
I'm Evan Bekkala, owner and founder of Buyer Buddy, a mobile pre-purchase vehicle inspection service that strives to be a trusted partner in vehicle decisions. We currently serve the Central Upper Peninsula of Michigan and are actively expanding to help as many people as possible.
My automotive career started in the heavy-duty diesel industry where I earned my ASE certifications in Automotive and Heavy Duty Truck. From there I repaired diesels at a GMC dealership (including ambulances), worked in maintenance at the Cliffs Iron Mine, and I've been at Eagle Mine working in the maintenance department for over 12 years.

Buyer Buddy started after hearing about too many people getting burned. Used car purchases that looked fine on the surface but turned into expensive headaches within weeks of purchase. Buyers traveling to look at a vehicle only to find things that resulted in a total waste of time and money for both parties.
The problem wasn't always that buyers were careless or sellers were dishonest. It's that they didn't have access to the same information a trained mechanic would catch in 90 minutes. A cracked frame rail. A rotted out oil pan or irregular tire wear indicating alignment issues.
So we built Buyer Buddy — a service that puts a certified inspector on-site, at the car, before you sign anything. We give you a real-time report and help you walk into your purchase with confidence instead of crossed fingers.

That's why we built Buyer Buddy as a mobile service from day one. Our inspectors travel to the vehicle. No towing, no scheduling conflicts, no convincing the seller to let you take it somewhere. We show up, do the work, and get out of your way.
We currently serve buyers across the central Upper Penninsula of Michigan and are actively expanding our coverage to bring more buyers the transparency they deserve.
